Ian Stevenson has been the full time Executive Director of Trellis since fall of 2015, He is responsible for expanding the capacity of the organization as the primary vision caster and strategy developer. A team-player at heart, he finds joy in team development, growth, and increasing effectiveness by facilitating collaboration within the Body of Christ, especially in the context of cities.

Prior to joining Trellis full-time, Ian was a pastor at The Crossing Church in Costa Mesa, California. For 27 years, he focused on ministry development, outreach and teaching to lead, manage, and grow the church from 40 to approximately 2,000. Holding a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville University, Ian is an expert in volunteer mobilization and management and has an extensive background in strategic planning, budget preparation, goal setting, and facilitating partnerships.

Ian and his wife Terrilee have been married for 36 years, with 3 grown children and 8 grandchildren. In their free time, the two enjoy riding motorcycles, hiking, backpacking and working out.

Ian Stevenson, works to facilitate collaboration in cities around the spiritual relational and practical challenges in them.

There is a lot involved and it is not exactly a linear process but in general this is how Ian Stevenson leads leaders in Christ:

  • Identify a Christ Centered leader in a city that feels called to establish more unity.
  • Help them outline a “listening tour” they can do for their city.
  • Help them strategize on how to engage pastors and churches in praying together.
  • Help them gather data on their city/community and identify what some of the spiritual, relational and practical challenges are in their city.
  • Help them establish a sustainable structure and game plan for developing an ongoing movement towards greater collaboration and collective impact in their city.

The reason why Ian Stevenson is called to lead in Christ is because of Jesus' prayer in John 17 particularly verse 23: "I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me."

Ian Stevenson is also inspired by:

  • Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV): 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.
  • Because cities are a strategic structure where God wants us to fight for unity and the Body of Christ should be leading the way in this.
  • We are Better Together.
